Parent Educator Exceptional Resource "PEER" Parent Educator Exceptional Resource (PEER) is a specially trained parent of a child with a disability or an educator with knowledge of children with disabilities in Collier County. The PEERs are collaboratively sponsored through the Exceptional Student Education Department, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System, and South Florida Parent Center to serve all schools in the county. As parents of children with special needs, PEERs understand ” parental concerns and can provide assistance and information to other parents. From personal experiences, PEERs have learned that positive teamwork between schools and families is the key to our children’s success. A PEER can provide information about training opportunities for parents and can also help design trainings or workshops that are requested by Principals, parents of students with disabilities, or other community agencies.
