A Sensitivity Awareness Workshop

It was created through Sharing the Commitment to be presented free of charge to Collier County elementary schools upon request by the school’s principal.

Participants watch a 20 min video prior to attending the workshop. A short, 10 min introduction is given before the students rotate through 10 stations (4 min each) simulating various disorders and disabilities, followed by a 10 min group discussion and wrap-up. There is also a classroom packet for after the workshop that includes evaluations of the workshop and a classroom activity.

The workshop is fast-paced, interactive, eye-opening, and most of all FUN. Emphasis is placed on empathy and understanding, rather than sympathy.

The workshop is currently available to all Collier County elementary schools upon request and is available for duplication by parents or teachers that would like to bring the workshop to their county.
